Mr. Peter Kibet Biwott joined the Export Promotion Council as the Chief Executive in 2017. He is a Development Economist, having won the prestigious Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Programme (JJWBGSP) 2008 cohort. This gave him an opportunity to further his studies in International development studies, with specialization in Economics of Development in the International Institute of Social Studies of Rotterdam University, Netherlands. His study focused on international trade, and why some countries developed than others.
He won the recognition of the JJWBGSP and then returned back home to help in the economic development of Kenya. Mr. Biwott has been a mentor to other scholarship beneficiaries in the USA, France, Netherlands and Japan, between 2011 and 2013 challenging them to return back and contribute to economic development of their Countries upon completion of their studies.
Taking advantage of his passion and expertise, Biwott has published papers on international trade and investment in the Journal of World Economic Research. A member of Kenya Institute of Management, he brings a wealth of experience, working in senior positions with key public and private sector organizations in international trade and investment. Such organizations include Ministry of Trade and Industry, Kenya Institute of Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA), Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry where he served as Country Representative for the East Africa Region.
Mr. Biwott has a vision to make EPC a model public sector and a go to institution by all Kenyans. This is because for Kenya to break through Big Four Agenda, majority of Kenyans should play a part in exporting business to increase foreign exchange earnings to the Country.
