The year 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Export Promotion Council (EPC). EPC was established in 1992 and over the last 25 years, the Council has put in place various programmes to enable it realize the mandate for which it was established.

The 25th anniversary certainly offers a unique opportunity to celebrate the achievements realized within its period of existence. It is also a time to reflect on the Council’s journey over the last quarter a century.


In the 25 years that it has been in operation, the Council has achieved many milestones that include the following towards the realization of its mandate:

1. Export Trade Training for existing and potential exporters

2. Product development for SME’s

3. Attaining the ISO 9001:2008 certification

4. Market linkage and access to a number of firms

5. Enhanced awareness through outreach

6. Signing MOU with key development partners on export development

7. Advocacy in the export sector

 Activities Planned For EPC @25

The celebrations will be observed through a number of activities to be undertaken over a period of time to enhance awareness for the larger majority of Kenyans on benefits of investing in production of exportable products for employment creation and economic empowerment. The activities will also seek to impress upon the public on contribution of exports to poverty alleviation and countering the social ills that threaten peaceful coexistence.

The following are some of the activities planned for the period to recognize the importance and value of exports in Kenya:

      1.       Inception Forum to Launch the Celebrations;

      2.       Export Open Days in Nairobi and select counties;

      3.       Corporate Social Responsibility activities;

      4.       Media briefings to outline the importance of exports to the National Economy;

      5.       Round Table meetings with players in the export sector;

      6.       Kenya Exports Summit, 2017;

•    Launch the National Export Development Strategy

•    Launch the EPC Strategic Plan 2017-2022

•    Rebranding of the EPC;

•    Signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with institutions in different export sectors;

      7.            Exhibition to showcase product offerings (goods and services) by players in the export sector.
